Ed Lam: Founder and Personal Trainer

With 30+ years of exercise experience, Ed Lam, our founder and main personal trainer, has a long and varied journey with health, fitness and wellbeing… both physical and mental.

“I’ve been a regular exerciser since my teens, so have racked up 30+ years of experience with weight resistance training (free weights and machines), bodyweight exercises, calisthenics, plyometrics, cardiovascular aerobic training, and other forms of physical activity including martial arts and amateur sports.

My interest in exercise and sports science has been a lifetime hobby! I’ve always had an interest in the fields of exercise theory and research, plus different areas of sports science including nutrition, human anatomy and physiology, conditioning, injury prevention and rehabilitation.

I decided to pursue a personal training qualification soon after returning to a regular gym routine after all the coronavirus pandemic restrictions ended. I enjoyed returning to regular intensive training. It really helped me cope with a lot of work-life-family issues I was having to deal with:

  • My now ex-partner has schizoaffective disorder
  • Our daughter had severe depression and anxiety issues dealing with her mother’s condition
  • Being the primary carer for the family
  • Being a manager in a fast paced retail environment finding it difficult to maintain a healthy work-life balance!

Personally, I’ve found regular exercise and becoming a personal trainer a blessing! It’s helped me find balance, focus, mental fortitude, and the passion to share the benefits of adopting healthy habits to improve anyone’s wellbeing… both physical and mental.
